DESTINY'S CHILD- The Curious Case of Blue Ivy Carter

Jay-Z and Beyonce are the proud parents of Blue Ivy Carter. As much as I want to celebrate the arrival of their new born child, I feel like the black community will tear me down for doing so. Maybe I'm tripping, but the last time I checked, Jay and Bey are celebrities, so wouldn't it be only fair to celebrate with celebrities? The past two days I 've been seeing people upset at the fact that these two black, wealthy, talented, young celebrities are getting a lot of attention. Aside from the fact that they just brought a new life into the world, the jealousy levels have gone through the roof.
1. What's In A Name?
Jay and Bey named their child Blue Ivy, leave it up to our own people to throw a tantrum over the fact that her name is Blue, like Beyonce is a "standard" first name (technically, Beyonce is Tina Knowles maiden name). Leave it up to black people to concern themselves with this, and in the same breath name their children Delexandre or Tyronika. I swear sometimes I feel like we will find anything to pick at in order to tear down other people.
2. Urban Elite
Face it, we've subconsciously watched Jay and Bey become a family without even really tripping over them. We've watched their entire relationship unfold over the past decade. From wondering if they were together during the "Me & My Girlfriend" era - To the "are they really married?" - To the 'Is she really pregnant?" fiasco... We don't really know anything about these two except from what they tell us, and who can be mad at that? Being under the media's microscope is already annoying in itself, but the fact that they manage to keep EVERYONE out of their business is even more a reason people are drawn to them. There is an art to giving nosey people just enough information to keep them coming back for more, and they have mastered it.
3. Ain't No Love In the Heart of the City
There are basically two types of people: Haters & Congratulaters. There are people that are genuinely happy for others and don't mind expressing that. On the other hand, there are people that are envious and jealous and will gladly say things such as, "I'm happy for Jay and Bey and all, but that baby ain't that special..." or "Cool, Blue Ivy is here, now can we get back to real topics like the war in Afghanistan..." How do people even think like that? To take it even further, some morons will devote a few hours of their life and try to link the birth to, you guessed it, the Illuminati. This baby isn't even a week old yet, and it seems as if the community is already putting out negative energy.
It kinda sucks that some people hate to see other people happy. At times, its almost as if we are our own worst enemy. We will gladly rip each other apart in hopes to make ourselves feel better, and that does not sit well with me. I'm using Jay-Z and Beyonce as an example of course, but in our daily lives, we should appreciate other people's blessings. It says a lot about the character of a person that has the ability to see people for who they are and not ridicule them.
Jay-Z is a father now. Beyonce is a mother. Let's just be happy for these people. In real life, they are new parents.

It's always cool to know dope people that are doing awesome things. The Glam Attic is just that. My lovely girlfriend and I stopped by the most fashionable resale boutique in Downtown St. Louis. Here's some footage of her experience.
The store's decor is elegantly fresh! Owners Chris and Teri make your shopping experience genuine and memorable. Their interaction with customers is very friendly, and that just the half of it. With a knowledgeable history of most of the vintage pieces they carry, we really felt like we were shopping in their very own house. Turning the awesome knob up even more is the fact that its like Rag-O-Rama or Plato's Closet, but with Thrift Store prices!! Triumph!
If you're ever in the downtown area, definitely check out the store!
